This is the "official" page for MediaQueue, the freeware, open-source bulk website media downloader. The basic premise is that if you have
a whole bunch of numbered files on a web site (web pages, images, zip files, etc) that you want to download (rip), MediaQueue can recognize the numbered pattern
of the filenames and download all of the files auto-magically with minimal user involvement. Instead of having to manually download every
individual file, you can queue them up, hit download, and go do something else while MediaQueue does all the work.
MediaQueue was born in late 2002, back when I used EZ-Pics, a similar application for web page ripping. After using this application for a while, I noticed its inherent instability and somewhat clumsy design. The author had a great idea; however there needed to be a better implementation. Unfortunately, what I was looking for simply did not exist; and so MediaQueue was born! Since then, MediaQueue has been a work in progress that I manage and work on in my spare time. It has grown to very large proportions (I never dreamed MediaQueue would be so popular!), and has literally thousands of users (about 20k+ downloads the last time I checked my logs). I am dedicated to keeping this project free for everyone; however if you like MediaQueue, donate money to keep the development process alive and going!
I fixed the bugs that were reported by users up to this point, and made some other changes to MediaQueue, and I feel that it is now ready for the 4.00 beta stage. Again, if you run into any bugs please report them in the forums. And now for the changelog:
Feb 23, 2005 - Version 4.0.0 beta + Added code debug option (-d command line parameter). - Misc interface adjustments - windows are now resizable. ! Minor bugfix involving code reset in code generator dialog. ! Misc MQ code changes and fixes.
I just finished programming the the alpha version of the next MediaQueue - 4.00. The fact that it's "alpha" means that it has not been fully tested yet, but at the time of this writing no bugs have been discovered. If you have any questions, or find any bugs, please go to the newly created forums, that's what they are there for. This version of MediaQueue can co-habitate with older releases, so don't feel like you can't keep using older versions while trying this one out (the last stable release is still MediaQueue 3.20). Please note that the new version of MediaQueue is a complete rewrite of the old version (used to be in C++ now in C#), so you must download Microsoft's .NET Framework 1.1, otherwise the program will not run. Now the changelog (which is missing a lot of stuff because I am tired and it's late):
January 04, 2004 - Version 4.0.0 alpha 1 + Added web page ripper. + Added a whole bunch of options for right click on preview image. + Support for multiple indexes in MqCodes. + Added an optional log file. + Code textbox in main window now supports editing hotkeys. + Individual codes are now selectable by clicking on gutter in main window. + Added statistics display in download box. + Added file information display in download box. + Different MediaQueue versions can now co-habitate. + A lot of other stuff I forgot, but which is very cool. - New filtering based on mime type. ! MediaCodes are now a lot more stable. ! MediaQueue is less of a memory hog. # MediaQueue completely rewritten in C#. # New settings format is used by this version. # Download speed indicator and EzCode support not finished for alpha.
As you can see, I finally added support for page ripping, and MqCodes now support multiple indexers (and work a little differently, so read up). I'm in the process of documenting all the new features and changes, so bear with me. In the meantime, please test the new version and report any bugs you might encounter (so I can fix them ASAP). I'll also put up some updated screen shots in the near future.
First I must apologise about me being somewhat slow in responding to some of your emails. This quarter at school
has been very busy, so I have not had time for much of anything else. There was also a brief downtime of the MediaQueue program
files while this site moved to a new server, but hopefully that has all been resolved. One of the most frequent questions
I have been receiving lately from people is that they are not able to run MediaQueue because "code plugins" are not detected. This just
means that you extracted the files out of the zip archiver incorrectly - make sure to maintain the directory structure of the
file when opening it. To do this don't just drag and drop the archive contents from your archiver program, use the "extract" feature,
otherwise you will get this error! Good news is that I have another couple of weeks to do MediaQueue related stuff during xmas break. One
of the notable changes will be improvement of MediaQueue codes to support multiple indexers. For instance, codes like
http://www.server.com/directory[1, 20]/file[001, 400].ext will be supported by MediaQueue :)
Well I finally got around to updating this web site. Keeping everything on one page was making things a bit cluttered, so hopefully this will work a little better. In any case, I should inform everyone about the status of the MediaQueue project. There haven't been any new versions of MediaQueue out for a bit, as I've been busy with some real-life stuff. However, right now I am in the process of rewriting the whole app in C# (using the .NET framework). The most current version (3.20) is written entirely in C++ (using raw Win32 API), and quite frankly it has become a burden to maintain. The new version of MediaQueue, 4.00, is going to be more reliable and what the hell, it might even come with some real documentation (a help file). The new version of MediaQueue will require the you to have the .NET framework installed, and will debut as a "beta". There is simply no way that I can discover all the ways you people will discover to break MediaQueue. The "historic" links for older versions of MediaQueue will continue to be available, so you can continue to use those till a "stable" version is released.
Since at this time MediaQueue is being molded into shape, I am taking suggestions for what changes should be included in this next version. Believe it or not, despite the fact that MediaQueue is very popular, I have recieved only 10 or so emails *total* regarding new features, bugs, etc. If you want me to add something to the program, fix a bug, or whatever, email me. Furthermore, I'm hoping someone will help me design a cooler MediaQueue icon. It should look professionally done, and be compatible with the current color scheme (kind of dark bluish sorta). I have absolutely no artistic talent so I can't create anything that looks half-decent myself.
